"After The Rain"

Encaustic ( beeswax and oils) on panel

Last summer, suddenly there were these gorgeous Peonies in the garden. The next day I came to photograph them but it had rained heavily during the night and the heads were bent under the weight but the colours were even better. I could just see them, painted  in drippy encaustic. I took many photographs because I knew the blossoms would not last very long, certainly not long enough to paint. These are the paintings done in the studio based on the photographs. This painting, a diptych, is 16"H x 36" W
